One of the greatest Japanese actors in history, together with Mifune Toshiro. It is said that he became actor accidentally. He was working as a clerk in a shop somewhere in Tokyo, his home city. Nakadai was found by Kobayashi Masaki, already well known director. He asked young man to start acting. Nakadai said yes and started to learn acting in a western style. After this he debuted in one of Kobayashi's films. His true fame had started after staring in the trilogy "Human Condition". He's still active and well known as a theatrical actor too.
