Godfrey Gao is a Taiwanese-born Canadian model and actor. Gao was born in Taipei, Taiwan, to a Taiwanese father and a mother from Malaysia. He moved to Vancouver, Canada, during his childhood, and later studied at Capilano University in North Vancouver. Gao's father is Shanghainese but grew up in Taiwan while his mother is a Peranakan from George Town. Since returning to Taiwan to work as a model in 2004, Gao has appeared in several TV dramas and films. He played Magnus Bane in the film adaption of "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones". He is also the first Asian male to model for the fashion brand Louis Vuitton. He is managed by JetStar Entertainment, and joined Korean actress Yoo In Na for Wedding Bible.
